My piece, “Thirteen Steps”, is now up at Storyglossia. Storyglossia is wonderful for a number of reasons, but one of the best is that they accomplish an interview with each author. They ask thoughtful questions. It’s rare that emerging authors get to comment on their own work, and this is a great venue in which to do it.

Yesterday, Brandon pinned on Major in a great ceremony officiated by Lt Col McGuire. Well deserved. Brandon and his family are headed out to Langley AFB this summer, and they’ll be missed!

Brandon, Jay and I had a heck of a time at the Southern California Writers Conference in San Diego last week. It was a great opportunity for me to consider other genres as well as the agent/publishing side of the business. Not to mention the 70 degree weather, beaches, and palm trees. It’s interesting primarily being a literary fiction author in a world where very literary fiction sells.

Two of my pieces, “Touch Me Before You Jump” and “The Sower” were accepted for publication to Fast Forward: A Collection of Flash Fiction, Vol 3. The highly regarded anthology will arrive at bookstores later this year.

“Touch” was recently awarded the 2010 Richard Bausch Short Fiction Prize from Our Stories. It’s a great honor, and I have to thank USAFA’s English Department; many of the department members proofread the piece and offered important suggestions.
