The massive AWP conference is in Denver this year, and I’m headed up with a great group for the three day event. I’ll be working the War, Literature & the Arts Journal table, and hitting more panels than I can count. I hope to run into many old friends and meet some new ones.

My non-fiction piece, “Silhouette”, will appear in the 10th edition of Ginosko Literary Journal later in the year. This piece is my first that works in flash memoir.

Tonight, I’m working on a conference paper about William James, the protaganist in Mark Boal’s The Hurt Locker. The discourse is amazing and varied. Many love the movie, praise it’s personal focus, and find William James an appropriate representation of the danger and bravery needed in EOD work. We’re (Department of English) proud of our upcoming WLA Conference, which has Mark Boal heading out as a keynote speaker. Mark is the screenwriter and producer of The Hurt Locker, up for many Academy Awards this evening!

“Highfives and Pitchforks”, a flash fiction piece, is now up at Vestal Review. Vestal Review is the oldest journal dedicated to flash fiction. My friend Kerry Linfoot is also in the latest issue with her wonderful Dirty Dozen piece!
