I found out today that “Derrin of the North” will be included in the 2010 Best American Short Stories collection as one of the 100 distinguished stories from 2009. Needless to say, I’m thrilled and honored.

I will celebrate in your name here. Thank you for the sincere embrace of your department and the Academy during the conference. You must have enjoyed meeting Richard Bausch there after being awarded his short fiction prize. Write well and write on.
