The Fallible War Hero: Sergeant James in The Hurt Locker

Tonight, I’m working on a conference paper about William James, the protaganist in Mark Boal’s The Hurt Locker. The discourse is amazing and varied. Many love the movie, praise it’s personal focus, and find William James an appropriate representation of the danger and bravery needed in EOD work. Others scoff at the authenticity of such a character. The dialogue is heated and important and provides wonderful fodder for my paper. I’ll present at the 2010 SISSI conference in Colorado Springs next week.
